Helen Steel
Helen joined Vox Anima Chamber Choir in 2019 after being inspired as an audience member when supporting friends at a concert that summer. After initially singing alto 1, she now revels in the joyous low notes in the alto 2 divisi!
Helen's introduction to choral music was an inaugural member of the Kent County Junior Choir, touring Paris as an 11 year old and singing in Notre Dame Cathedral. She went on to become a member of the Kent County Singers before focussing on instrumental music-making as leader of the Kent Youth Wind Orchestra.
Helen has been a long-serving member of the clarinet section with Maidstone Wind Symphony but is now focussing all of her musical energy on Vox Anima Chamber Choir.
Outside of choir, Helen is the Development Manager for Vox Anima London connecting with choirs across the world as part of a small but mighty team with a shared passion for creating unforgettable musical and cultural opportunities for amateur singers in London.
Helen is a proud mum to Evie and Ben, and away from choir enjoys running (sort of!), playing netball and badminton, and walking with her golden retriever Stella whilst listening to choral music, or Test Match Special!
Helen helps manage the choir's social media channels and is a prolific consumer of post-rehearsal wine and nibbles!
